FSSAI Registration for E-Commerce
- Any food business operator that is in the business of manufacturing, processing, storing, distributing and sale of food must mandatorily apply for and have an FSSAI Registration / License.
- Same way all E-Commerce Food Business Operators buying and selling of goods or services using the internet, and the transfer of money and data to execute these transactions requires to obtain FSSAI License.
- E-Commerce: E-commerce, also known as electronic commerce or internet commerce, refers to the buying and selling of goods or services using the internet, and the transfer of money and data to execute these transactions.
- E-Commerce is often used to refer to the sale of physical products online, but it can also describe any kind of commercial transaction that is facilitated through the internet.
- For the purpose of this license FSSAI has defined the following two models of e-commerce business:
- Inventory Based Model: Where the inventory and food service are owned by e-commerce FBO and is sold directly to the consumers.
- Marketplace Based Model: E-commerce FBO is a facilitator of information technology platform to the buyer and seller/marketer/manufacturer.
Documents required for FSSAI registration for E-Commerce
The following are the basic documents required for FSSAI License:
- Photo Identity of the Food Business Operator.
- Proof of the complete possession of premises (e.g. Rental Agreement ).
- A Partnership Deed or a Certificate of Incorporation.
- List of food products (that would be inputs as well as the final menu) to be dealt with.
- A detailed food safety management plan.
The following are the documents required for FSSAI registration for E-Commerce:
- List of Directors with full address and contact details (mandatory for companies only).
- Photo I.D and address proof issued by the Government authority of Proprietor / Partner / Director(s) / Authorized Signatory.
- Proof of possession of premises. (Sale deed/ Rent agreement/ Electricity bill, etc.).
- Partnership Deed/Self Declaration for Proprietorship/Memorandum & Articles of Association towards the constitution of the the firm- For MoA – Three pages need to be uploaded (First page – Certification of incorporation, Second page – Authorization of food business activity and Third page – list of directors with addresses).
- Recall plan wherever applicable, with details on whom the product is distributed.
