New features and Changes on New Income Tax Portal 2.0
A few days ago, an announcement was made by the Income Tax Department that the Income Tax Portal shall have new changes to make return filing easy, faster, and most importantly, user-friendly. The first thing that has come up with the new IT portal is that the taxpayers will have to re-register DSC. Apart from the Re-registration of DSC, the new Income Tax portal has some significant feature that will help the taxpayers. So here are a few changes that came with New Income Tax Portal 2.0.
Re-registration of DSC
- On the new Income Tax Portal 2.0, the taxpayers will have to re-register DSC from June 7, 2021.
- The Department has directed re-registration because the earlier DSC registration on the old portal cannot be migrated due to some security and technical reasons. The Income Tax Department has forwarded an E-mail that said:
“Please ensure that you re-register your current valid DSC on the new e-filing portal https://www.incometax.gov.in from June 7th onwards.
The earlier DSC registration on the old portal cannot be migrated due to security and technical reasons.”
Apart from this, there are some other significant changes as follows:
Income Tax E-Filing Mobile App
- First time it has happened that the new Income Tax Portal 2.0 is made available through mobile app.
- Through this application, the taxpayer will be able to use all the functions to file IT Returns, make tax payments, submit answers to the queries raised and many more.
- The important advantage of using the mobile app is that they can access the portal from anywhere, anytime and perform necessary activities all by themselves.
Interactive Dashboard
- The new Income Tax Portal provides a single dashboard that is interactive where one can check all the required information on the single dashboard itself.
- This facilitates the taxpayers to incorporate all transaction details, uploads of various documents and communications with the department in a single window.
- It is beneficial for the taxpayers as they do not need to go through various tabs to open various activities.
More options for Tax Payments
- On the old IT portal the tax payment was limited to net banking / debit cards of limited banks or visiting bank branch.
- The new Income Tax E-filing portal 2.0 offers various methods for E-payment of the tax without having to visit the branch.
- In the new tax portal, a new feature has been added where the taxpayers can pay taxes using UPI and credit cards.
- The new portal will also provide payment of taxes through net banking and RTGS / NEFT methods.
Quick Refunds
- It is expected from the new tax portal that it will reduce the time of waiting for the refund amount.
- The new tax portal is easy to access and has more interactive features, the Income Tax Department expects to pay the refunds quickly than before.
More features
- The Income Tax Department will release the user manuals on how to operate and make the most of the new e-filing portal.
- Also, video tutorials will be provided by the Income Tax Department on how to use the services of the new portal effectively.
- The department is expecting that the new portal will aggressively solve queries raised by the taxpayers using Chatbots, FAQs, Video Tutorials, and many such methods.
The new portal is all set to be launched and will require a few updates and changes such as re-registration of DSC etc by the taxpayers. The new portal looks promising and is expected to ease the process and hustle earlier faced by the Taxpayers.
