Decode the Password for Form 16B- for TDS deducted on Purchase of property
Many times, it happens that a lot from us gets stuck while opening the PDF downloaded/received from the various government sites such as site of the Income Tax Department or TDS site. These sites contain documents which are password protected. There are different types of passwords to open the PDF downloaded / received from such various sites. In this article we are going to be talking about how to decode / know the password for Form 16B for TDS to file Income Tax Return.

What is Form 16B?
- Form 16B is a kind of an acknowledgement receipt that states that the total amount of tax that has been deducted while purchasing a property and the same amount of deducted tax has been deposited by the seller with the Income Tax Department.
- Form 16B is a form of a certificate, where the seller is certifying details regarding the total TDS deducted in case of a property sale.
- Form 16B verifies the TDS applicable on the sale procedure of the property.
How to get the form 16B from the buyer?
- Once the buyer deposites the amount with the Income Tax Department, He / she will have to issue Form 16B as the TDS certificate for the purchase of property to the seller
- Form 16B can be downloaded from TRACES website. Once the buyer furnishes the details in Form 26QB and deposits the TDS, he or she can download Form 16B online.
What is the password for Form 16B (TDS certificate for purchase of property)?
- Form 16B- TDS certificate is always password protected.
- The password for the Form 16B would be the Date of Birth of the buyer in DDMMYYYY format.
- That means if the Date of Birth of the buyer is 13th January, 1997, then your password for Form 16B 13011997.
Form 16B is important as this form helps the sellers in filing their return smoothly. Form 16B also helps in verifying the income details and also the rate at which the TDS on property has been deducted. To avoid any sort of inconstancy when it comes to filing taxes, it is mandatory for the taxpayers to find out details about Form 16B and other Forms and use them accordingly.
