When an application is made for Company incorporation in SPICe + form, it is mandatory to apply for PAN and TAN for a Private Limited Company. So here, in this article we have discussed the full procedure to obtain / download PAN and TAN for Private Limited Company.

What is a PAN Card?

A Permanent Account Number known as PAN is a vital document for any taxpayer. It is a unique 10-character string of letters and digits. It is a mandatory requirement for all tax-paying individuals, partnerships, companies, etc.

What is TAN ?

A Tax Deduction Account Number or Tax Collection Account Number is a 10-digit alpha-­numeric number issued by the Income-tax Department (we will refer to it as TAN). TAN is to be obtained by all persons who are responsible for deducting tax at source (TDS) or who are required to collect tax at source (TCS).

How to obtain PAN & TAN card for Private Limited Company when applied through SPICe +?

With the introduction of new form for the Incorporation of Companies i.e. SPICe+, PAN and TAN application shall be applied along side the Company Incorporation Application in PART B of the SPICe Plus form. It is mandatory to apply for PAN and TAN in SPICe Plus form.

• Now when you apply for PAN and TAN it gets approved automatically when the Company is Incorporated.
• On approval of SPICe+ forms, the Certificate of Incorporation (CoI) is issued with PAN as allotted by the Income Tax Department.
• Also, an Email with certificate of Incorporation(CoI) as an attachment along with the PAN and TAN is also sent to registered Email ID of the Company so incorporated.
• Further, the soft copy of the PAN and TAN will be sent via Email from no-reply@nsdl.co.in the NSDL department on the registered Email ID of the Private Limited Company.

How to download the soft copy of the PAN and TAN from the Email?

• Once an Email is received from the NSDL Department with PAN and TAN, the company can download the soft copy of the same by entering a valid password.

How to know the Password to download the soft copy of the PAN of the Private Limited Company?

• The password for opening the PDF of the PAN Card received via Email ID no-reply@nsdl.co.in will be the date of incorporation of the company.
• Kindly note that while entering the date of incorporation as the password, there should be no space or punctuation marks etc.
• For e.g. if a Private Limited Company was incorporated on 10th December, 2020 then the password to download the PAN will be 10122020.

How to know the Password to download the soft copy of the TAN of the Private Limited Company?

• The password for opening the PDF of the PAN Card received via Email ID no-reply@nsdl.co.in will be the PIN code number (Postal Code) of the registered office address of the company.
• Kindly note that while entering the date of incorporation as the password, there should be no space and punctuation marks etc.
• For e.g. if a Private Limited Company’s registered office is situated in Thaltej Area of Ahmadabad then the password to download the TAN will be the PIN code of that area i.e. 380059.

Important note: Please not that there will be only soft copy and no physical copy of PAN or TAN will be issued by the NSDL department.
