FSSAI Registration for Traders
- Any food business operator that is in the business of manufacturing, processing, storing, distributing and sale of food must mandatorily apply for and have an FSSAI Registration / License.
- Same way all Trading activities relating to food require to get FSSAI registration/license.
- Traders: Trading includes wholesale, Distribution, Supply, Retail, and Marketing.
- Wholesaler: Wholesale is an activity in the distribution channel where food products are procured in bulk and then sold to resellers/retailers rather than to consumers.
- Distributors: Distribution is an activity in the distribution channel where food products are distributed from the original place of manufacture to the person who makes the final delivery or sale of the food product to the ultimate consumer.
- Supplier: Supply is an activity in the distribution channel where food products are provided to the consumer as per the requirements raised by the consumer.
- Marketer: Marketing (self) means promoting food products of a brand in the market which is owned by the self. Marketing (Third Party) means promoting food products of a brand in the market which is not owned by the self.
- Retailer: Retail is an activity where food products are procured from a manufacturer, distributor or wholesaler and sold to the ultimate end user.
- Under the Food safety and standard Act, 2006 (FSSAI act) one cannot deal inactivity of transporting and trading of food products without an FSSAI License.

Basic documents required for FSSAI License
- Photo Identity of the Food Business Operator.
- Proof of the complete possession of premises (e.g. Rental Agreement ).
- A Partnership Deed or a Certificate of Incorporation.
- List of food products (that would be inputs as well as the final menu) to be dealt with.
- A detailed food safety management plan.
The documents required for FSSAI registration for Traders
- Proof of Expected Annual Turnover(self-attested).
- List of Directors with full address and contact details (mandatory for companies only).
- Food Safety Management System plan or certificate (if any).
- Declaration Form.
- Photo I.D and address proof issued by the Government authority of Proprietor / Partner / Director(s) / Authorized Signatory.
- Proof of possession of premises. (Sale deed/ Rent agreement/ Electricity bill, etc.).
- Partnership Deed / Self Declaration for Proprietorship/Memorandum & Articles of Association towards the constitution of the firm.
- Form IX: Nomination of Persons by a Company along with the Board Resolution.
