When a person wishes to import or export goods or services, he needs to acquire an Import Export Code. One can not do business without a valid IEC License. According to recent update, an IEC License needs to be renewed every year. However, One may surrender an IEC License if he further does not wish to use the Import Export Code allotted to him, he may surrender his license.
Earlier, the IEC License came with lifetime validity, but now the IEC holder shall have to renew IEC license every year.
