How to Know TAN Card Details Using the Applicant’s Name?

  • Visit the website of https://www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal/
  • Click on the option ‘Know your TAN’.
  • Select ‘Name’ under the ‘TAN Search’ option.
  • Choose the ‘Category of Deductor’.
  • Select the ‘State’.
  • Provide the ‘Name’ and ‘Mobile Number’.
  • Press ‘Continue’.
  • Enter the ‘One Time Password’ (OTP) sent to the registered mobile number on the corresponding screen.
  • Click on ‘Validate’.
  • The details will be displayed on the screen.

How to Update or Correct TAN Card Data Online.

Step 1: Visit the website at https://www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal/.

 

Step 2: Select the option for “Online Application” to make corrections or changes to TAN data or to request a TAN change.

 

Step 3: Fill out the online TAN change request form and submit it. Ensure that all fields marked with “*” are filled. Select the corresponding box on the left margin for the field where correction is required.

 

Step 4: If there are any format-level validation errors in the submitted TAN data, an error message will appear on the screen.

 

Step 5: Rectify the errors and re-submit the TAN Application Form.

 

Step 6: Choose the edit option if you need to amend the TAN data displayed on the confirmation screen. Select the confirm option if the information is correct.

 

Step 7: After you successfully pay the fees (unless using a demand draft or cheque), we will generate a 14-digit acknowledgment slip for your reference

 

Step 8: Save and print the acknowledgment slip. Send it along with the required documents to NSDL at the following address:

Step 9: After three days of the request, you can track/check the status of your TAN application using the unique Acknowledgment Number. You can also send an SMS – NSDLTAN to 57575 to follow the status of the TAN application.

 

Note: It is important to follow the correct procedure and provide accurate information when making corrections to TAN card details.

When applying for a change in TAN data, applicants must submit the following documents:

  1. TAN Change Request Form
  2. Proof of TAN
  3. Duly signed Acknowledgement Slip
